aTalent improves device lifecycle management with SavannaX

aTalent began using SavannaX in January 2026, and we asked CFO Tuuli Välimäki about her experiences after the first two months of use.

What challenges did you previously have in managing workstation lifecycles, and how did SavannaX solve them?

Tuuli: Previously, it was difficult for us to get a clear overall picture of the condition of our workstations and their actual replacement needs. When devices start to slow down or show other issues, it can be hard to assess whether it’s normal wear and tear, a need for maintenance, or whether the device has truly reached the end of its lifecycle.

With SavannaX, we now get more concrete data on device status and replacement needs. This allows us to better evaluate when a device can still be serviced or repaired with our IT partner, and when replacement is the more sensible option. This has brought clarity to workstation lifecycle management and made decision-making easier.

You already had a device agent in use. How does SavannaX differ from a standalone device agent in your opinion?

Tuuli: We already had a device agent and analytics tool in use, but its interface was quite technical and clearly designed more for IT experts. As a result, its use in our daily operations remained fairly limited.

The biggest difference with SavannaX is usability. The interface is clear even for someone who doesn’t work with IT daily, and you can quickly get an overall view from one place. For example, we can easily see the status of devices and required actions without having to analyze the data separately. This has lowered the threshold for using the tool and made it genuinely useful in everyday decision-making.

What new features would be useful for you?

Tuuli: One useful additional feature would be visibility into application usage rates. We are currently reviewing our application portfolio, and it would be valuable to see data on which tools are actually being used and how actively.

Another useful development would be email notifications for critical situations, for example if antivirus protection is not up to date or if there is a security-related issue that requires attention.

Additionally, it could be useful to receive a weekly email summary of the environment’s status. This kind of reminder would help ensure that important observations and actions are not overlooked in a busy day-to-day life.

What have you gained from using SavannaX that you didn’t anticipate beforehand?

Tuuli: We had already used analytics tools before, so we had some idea of what to expect from this kind of solution. A positive surprise has been how easily SavannaX provides a comprehensive overview of the device environment.

In practice, information is available much faster and more clearly than before, which makes everyday decision-making easier. As a result, managing workstation lifecycles has become significantly smoother.

What are the biggest benefits considering your roles (CFO and part-time IT manager)?

Tuuli: From a CFO’s perspective, one of the key benefits is improved cost control. With more data on device condition and lifecycle, we can make more informed decisions about when to replace devices and when they can still be maintained. At the same time, we can maximize device lifespan, which makes sense both financially and from a sustainability perspective. Personally, I value that devices are not replaced unnecessarily, but are used for as long as possible.

For this reason, our collaboration with SwanIT has felt natural, as we share the same mindset that technology should be used in a smart and sustainable way.

Was there any aspect of SavannaX that did not meet your expectations?

Tuuli: Nothing comes to mind at this stage. The service meets our expectations and works flawlessly.

Is there anything you would like to say to a person or company still considering using SavannaX in their business?

Tuuli: The service is a small investment compared to how much it can save you. In addition, it helps safely maximize device lifespan and move away from a disposable culture. I would say it’s a low-threshold investment relative to the benefits gained, and it’s definitely worth at least trying the service.
